A confederation is a type of organization that has a large number of parties that chose to unite as an official league or alliance. This particular alliance consists of thirty six men who were able to attend the meetings held in Charlottetown and Quebec in the year eighteen sixty four. The purpose of this event was to discuss matters involving the Canadian Confederation, wherein they planned to unite all alliances to become an independent community.

The meetings are considered an important part of history in Canada and are often hailed as a turning point for their entire political and economic situation at that time. Not only did it contribute much to society during its time of formation, the influence and effect continues to be felt today. In line with this, here are some interesting details about the Fathers of Confederation.

Sir Adams Archibald is the person responsible for creating and founding the entire confederation. Because of this, he was appropriately given the title of the founding father of their alliance. Sir Archibald was also a politician and attorney, who eventually garnered the title of lieutenant governor in Manitoba.

George Brown is a Scottish national, but was born and raised in Canada. He is best known as a reform politician, who is responsible for creating the Toronto Globe. During its time of publication, it was regarded as the most influential and popular newspaper in the country and Brown was its founder and chief editor. Due to his work, national unity was achieved and enforced throughout the country.

An Ontario politician native is Alexander Campbell, who is best known for being an upper statesman. Even though Alexander was not born in this country, Alexander was brought here with his father when he was only twelve months old. Yorkshire is his hometown but Ontario is where he grew up and attended law school, ending in a partnership upon completion of their board examination.

A popular movement and community was the Newfoundland Colony. This was headed by Sir Frederick Terrington Carter during the time he worked in office in 1870. Like many of his blood relatives, he also pursued a profession law while dabbling a little bit in politics. At some point, he was awarded the KCMG title, a prestigious and highly regarded title.

A native of New Brunswick is Edward Barron Chandler, is known as one of the most prominent lawyers. This is due to the fact that Edward was a part of the United Empire Loyalist family and was heavily regarded as a political figure in society and many communities. He was a part of the legislative council in his province and was a heavy supporter of movements like the railway development.

James Cockburn is another politician who is known to be a Canadian conservative. Although James was born in Berwick, he along with his family moved to this country when he was only thirteen. They wanted to have a better life with more opportunities that was offered to them. James was officially in their office from eighteen seventy eight to eighteen eighty one.

George Coles was a person who did not find school very entertaining or worth his time. He focused more on his entrepreneurial pursuits rather than his schooling and became a prominent businessman and brewer. Due to this, he became wealthy and used his funds to improve his many side projects, like breweries.
